Slightly disappointingly, I'm starting the Festival without a bet. Even with the near-ideal prospect for an each-way bet from the 8 entrants, I find it tough to challenge Appreciate It. While the 10mm rain Sunday improved Metier's odds as second favourite, a bet in the 'without favourite' market seems illogical too. However, I reckon Captain Guinness and Franco De Port could outdo Allmankind, perhaps suggesting a deeper look at the 'without favourite' market. .

| There’s also the rather speculative yet analytically-backed 25/1 for Happygolucky in the ‘to win any race’ category, which positions us brilliantly. Handle it sensibly—if you backed each-way at those odds, it's only three places. Previously secured at 12/1 on Abacadabras, but given the full field confirmation, this year’s Champion Hurdle seems apt for an additional each-way play, notably with William Hill featuring five placements for bets. The unanticipated extra rain felt on Sunday night aside, staking 10/1 on Sharjah with William Hill, with those enticing five placement terms, seems overwhelmingly worthwhile. The drier and windier Monday should transition conditions back to good or soft. Despite Sharjah being a three-time Grade 1 victor on good or yielding ground, she's also excelled in Grade 1 on softer ground and comfortably won the Galway Hurdle on stringent terrain. One perhaps remembers her competitive run against Epatante in last year's Champion Hurdle amidst taxing conditions. |

| I’m very happy with the The determining element for Sharjah will be the race dynamics—expect a decent pace as Paul Townend maneuvers through later, aiming for the right moment against the more assertively ridden Honeysuckle and Epatante. No advance bets here, and the leading contenders seem firm but not impervious. Both Concertista and Roksana have past Cheltenham victories, and Dame De Compagnie also holds that accolade.
But there's perhaps an undervalued competitor, Nicky Henderson’s Floressa. Long seen as needing an increased distance, now she has her chance. With Bet365 offering tempting odds in the special markets, she could deliver. Floressa at 22/1 in the market ‘without Concertista’, and 14/1 in the market ‘excluding Concertista and Roksana’, should be considered for small each-way stakes with Bet365.
