Originally from England, Chris Sutton was a professional footballer born on March 10, 1973, in Nottingham. Adept as a striker but equally capable as a center-back in different phases of his career.
Sutton paved his career with Norwich City, debuting in 1991 and quickly scaling the ranks to establish himself as a premier striker in the 1993-94 season, notching up 25 goals and catching the eyes of top clubs.
In a landmark transfer in 1994, Sutton joined Blackburn Rovers for £5 million, forming the renowned “SAS” duo with Alan Shearer and playing a pivotal role in their 1994-95 Premier League triumph.
After Blackburn, Sutton journeyed to Chelsea in 1999 for a staggering £10 million, though the stint was challenging, marking just one league goal out of 28 appearances. Relocating to Celtic in 2000, he rediscovered his form, celebrating various Scottish titles and playing a critical role in their 2003 UEFA Cup final run.
Post-Celtic, Sutton played briefly with Birmingham City and Aston Villa before an eye injury led him to retire from professional football in 2007.
