Kelso Tips

Renowned for its welcoming crowd, Kelso Racecourse offers a leisurely environment for everyone. It has been awarded the title of ‘Best Small Course in Scotland and the North of England’ by the Racegoers Club on three occasions.

Exclusively used for National Hunt racing, Kelso Racecourse comprises two tracks: a chase track spanning 1 mile 600 yards and a hurdle track measuring 1 mile 330 yards.

Races at Kelso are planned from September until May each year.

The Kelso track is left-handed and primarily flat, featuring an external chase course encircling the internal hurdles course.

Kelso Feature Races

From September through May, Kelso hosts various races and festivities every month to look forward to.

With February and March being notable months, Kelso hosts both the Morebattle Hurdle and the Premier Hurdle.

Morebattle Hurdle – Spanning a distance of 2 miles and 2 furlongs with ten hurdles, the Morebattle Hurdle is the centerpiece of February's National Hunt meeting.

Premier Hurdle – A highlight of Premier Novices’ Hurdle day at Kelso, which also includes the Premier Chase. It's among the year's significant events, featuring ten hurdles over 2 miles and 2 furlongs.
