One of the many products by The Tote is the Placepot, alongside the Scoop6 Tote Jackpot and Quadpot. For each race meeting, there is a Placepot, requiring punters to pick a horse from the first six races of the day unless noted otherwise. You may choose multiple horses in each race, referred to as a Perm bet, potentially increasing your Placepot stake. All Placepot stakes merge into a pool, which is split among winners post-deductions.
To earn a share of the Placepot dividend, you must have at least one selection succeeded in each race. The quantity of placings per race is based on the actual runner count, detailed below.

Choosing just one horse from each of the six races results in a single-line bet, hence the total stake equals what you enter. Adding more horses increases your stake through multiple lines. Calculate your Placepot stake by multiplying selection numbers across races. For instance:
1 x 3 x 1 x 2 x 2 x 1 = 12 lines. Thus, if you bet £1 per line, the total stake amounts to £12.
The minimum line stake for Placepots is 1p, and the minimum total stake is 50p, lessened from 5p / £1, allowing more complex permutations without substantial risk.
When desired, you can opt for the un-named favorite in any of the six races. This selection will be the Starting Price (SP) Favorite. If joint-favorites exist, the one with the lowest racecard number will be chosen.
The Placepot dividend refers to the prize pool portion shared among winners, calculated to a £1 stake. For example, at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019, the pool was £958,481.10, yielding a £91,283.10 dividend from 10.5 winning units. A lucky punter with a £2 winning line fetched £182,567.80! A £0.10 bet would have returned 10% of the dividend.
