Ripon Tips

Commonly known as the Garden Racecourse, Ripon is a scenic flat racing venue nestled in North Yorkshire. Owned by Go Racing In Yorkshire—the promotional body for Yorkshire's nine racecourses—it earned the title of ‘Best Small Racecourse in the North’ from the Racegoers’ Club back in 2003.

Racing at Ripon runs through the summer months, from June to September, drawing fans of all ages, especially families, for their much-loved Family Days.

Ripon Racecourse

The Ripon track boasts a challenging layout, marked by sharp turns in an oval form. It runs right-handed and encompasses a total of 13 furlongs.

The home stretch measures five furlongs, but there’s an extension that accommodates 6-furlong races.

Ripon Feature Races

From June to September, Ripon hosts an array of thrilling races each year.

June kicks off with three events, including Ladies Day and two evening races, with one featuring the Wells Memorial Cup.

July sees the Handicap Stakes and the Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival, bringing a laid-back vibe with a lineup of exciting races.

August features five race meets at Ripon, highlighted by three Family Days where attendees are encouraged to dress up. August also showcases the course's premier event, the Great St Wilfrid Handicap, and the Ripon Champion Two Years Old Trophy.

September rounds off the season with the City of Ripon Handicap and a fun-filled BBQ & Beer festival.
