Nestled amidst beautiful landscapes, Salisbury Racecourse might feel like remote Wiltshire, yet it’s only a short 2km from the city center, ensuring great commuting options for event-goers.

Salisbury Racecourse

The Salisbury track is a right-handed flat course, focusing purely on races without hurdles. Races on the straight-course span up to 1 mile, with a loop extension for races up to 1 mile 6 furlongs.

The straight segment of the course has a gradual elevation, making it ideal for strong gallopers who thrive under such conditions.

Salisbury Feature Races

Flat races at Salisbury Racecourse occur annually between April and October, with the summer months drawing the biggest crowds.

June showcases the Cathedral Stakes, while August hosts the popular Upavon Fillies’ Stakes and Sovereign Stakes. Over the years, Frankie Dettori has been a standout in the Upavon Fillies’ Stakes, although no horse has repeated a victory in the Sovereign Stakes. Dettori also achieved victory twice in the September-held Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes, although Richard Hughes triumphed three times, with the final win in 2012 before his retirement in 2014.
