In 1967, Josh Gifford matched Fred Winter’s record by securing 121 wins in a single season at Uttoxeter. Years later in 2002, AP McCoy clinched his spot as the leading National Hunt jockey by triumphing with Mighty Montefalco at this venue.

Uttoxeter's track, left-handed and oval-shaped, stretches 1 mile 2½ furlongs. The back straight features a steady climb up Clump Hill, then slopes into a level home straight covering four furlongs.

While Uttoxeter may not host a large number of events, there are a few noteworthy races that shouldn't be overlooked.

The highlight of Uttoxeter's racing calendar is the Midlands Grand National, held in March. This challenging steeplechase spans 4 miles and 2 furlongs, with 24 fences to conquer, and it’s noteworthy that no horse has triumphed more than once since its inception in 1969. Apart from Aintree's Grand National, the Midlands Grand National is the lengthiest.

Held in June or July, the Uttoxeter Summer Cup is another significant event, historically known as The Summer National and covering 3 miles & 2 furlongs.
