Brazil – 9/2
Brazil has clinched the World Cup more times than any other country, winning it five times. However, their last triumph was two decades ago, with each subsequent attempt ending at the quarter-finals.
Despite this, it's tough to overlook the depth of Brazil’s roster, explaining why they’re the bookmaker’s frontrunner going into the tournament.
Players like Neymar, Vinicius Junior, Alisson, Antony, Gabriel Jesus, Coutinho, Firmino, Casemiro, and Richarlison bolster their lineup. If they perform well, they should cruise into the later tournament rounds.
The favorites have landed in Group G with Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon. Although not the simplest group, I anticipate Brazil will top it, advancing to face the runner-up from Group H, featuring Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, and Ghana. The quarter-finals could bring a clash with Spain or Croatia, leading to a semi-final duel against either Argentina, Denmark, or the Netherlands. If things unfold as predicted, they won't bump into France, England, Germany, or Belgium until the finals — a potential advantage.

France – 6/1
France has secured the World Cup twice in their past six attempts, also finishing runner-up in 2006. They are defending champions after defeating Croatia 4-2 in the Russia 2018 final and with stars like Benzema, Mbappe, Pogba, Griezmann, N’Golo Kante, and Dembele in the arsenal, they remain formidable.
The reigning champions are in Group D with Denmark, Tunisia, and Australia. Denmark is a sturdy opponent capable of snagging the top spot — the decisive face-off between these teams is slated for Saturday, November 26th.
If France tops their group, they’d face Group C’s runner-up, containing Argentina, Poland, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. I see Poland or Mexico taking second place after Argentina, and France should find these manageable.
Tension rises with a potential quarter-final against England and they might need to overcome Belgium, Germany, or Portugal in the semi before reaching the title clash.
Argentina – 7/1
Argentina ranks third favorite for lifting the World Cup this year, yet recent tournaments haven’t been kind. Since being finalists in 2014 — narrowly losing to Germany 1-0 — they've not gone beyond the quarters post-1990.
Eyes will be on Lionel Messi during Argentina’s run; this legendary figure is prepping for hopefully his last World Cup. For Argentina to clinch their first title since 1986, he’ll need to be at his best.
England – 7/1
Having reached the Russia 2018 semi-finals and Euro 2020 finals, England’s prospects for the 2022 World Cup are optimistic. Nevertheless, Gareth Southgate’s squad hasn’t shown consistency since the Euro finals loss to Italy on penalties and hasn't won in six Nations League matches, scoring just 4 times and conceding 10.
Pressure is mounting on manager Gareth Southgate. Though some claim his rotation in Nations League was to grant players a proving ground, recent outings don't inspire much confidence heading into the World Cup.
I foresee an improved performance from England once the World Cup launches, and they should navigate their group comfortably. Wales, USA, and Iran shouldn’t pose substantial threats. Should Netherlands lead Group A, England would likely encounter Ecuador, Senegal, or Qatar.
A victory in the round of 16 would position Southgate’s team just three games away from claiming their first World Cup title since 1966, though such paths may cross with France in the quarters and other heavyweights thereafter.
Other Contenders
The lessons of World Cup history tell us outright victories aren't typically the domain of underdogs.
To date, just 8 teams have claimed World Cup victories across 21 tournaments.
Brazil (5 titles), Germany (4), Italy (4), France (2), Argentina (2), Uruguay (2), Spain (1), and England (1).
Nonetheless, outside of the four main favorites mentioned above, more contenders are in the mix this year.
Spain is primed to excel with strong squad depth, and Germany is expected to put on a better show than at Euro 2020.
Many have anticipated Belgium's tournament win for years — currently FIFA’s #2, with players like Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Romelu Lukaku, making third place at Russia 2018. Should they find rhythm, this could be their time, presenting a sensible 14/1 betting opportunity.
Outsider Pick
My sleeper pick is the Netherlands, who might soar in this tournament. Their notable improvement since June 2021 keeps them unbeaten, and their attacking prowess is evident, offering them an easier passage to the quarter-finals if all goes well.
They ought to lead Group A ahead of Ecuador, Senegal, and Qatar, setting them up against Group B’s runner-up. If England tops that group, the Netherlands would likely duel with either Wales or the USA and would enter as favorites.
I’d bet on them to edge out Argentina in a potential quarter-final clash, with 14/1 odds to win it all, or 13/2 to at least reach the final, making for an enticing wager. They face a stern semi-final, possibly against Brazil, Spain, or Croatia, but considering their form, I’m inclined to back them going the distance.
World Cup Winner / To Reach The Final
This year, no team has truly captured my attention as the standout contender. England's current form doesn't warrant their short odds, and I've hesitated to back Brazil due to their recent tournament exits. While France is among the favorites, their performance in the Nations League was underwhelming, securing just one victory out of six games. Despite this, I anticipate France will return to their usual impressive form during the World Cup. Coupled with my hunch that the Netherlands might be a dark horse, I’m betting on a France vs. Netherlands final with enticing odds of 33/1 at BetVictor.

World Cup Stats
Leveraging statistics is a smart strategy when deciding on the best bets for any sports event, including the World Cup. This year marks the 22nd edition, providing an extensive database of data.
Some teams outperform expectations in World Cups, while others struggle compared to their performance in other tournaments.
Similarly, some players shine for their national teams but don’t replicate that form at club level.
These statistics are freely accessible online, making it valuable to spend time reviewing the data to solidify or reconsider the bets you plan to place.

England Odds To Win The World Cup
Back in April, England's odds to capture the 2022 World Cup title were as low as 5/1, before their Nations League games took place. However, poor performances during the tournament and injury-induced defensive vulnerabilities have seen these odds dip to a best price of 9/1 with SportNation. They now share the same odds as Spain, with Argentina, France, and Brazil ahead of them.
We'll delve into England's prospects of progressing through various stages of the tournament later in this article, but for now, let's focus on the possibility of them ending their 56-year drought and lifting the trophy in Qatar on December 18th.
Regardless of whether England manages to top their group, they'll need to defeat at least two or three top teams to clinch the tournament victory. The critical question is whether they can outperform heavyweights like Brazil, France, Argentina, and others.
Similar to England, France's buildup for the Qatar World Cup wasn't smooth, with a disappointing Nations League performance yielding just one win from six encounters.
Argentina poses a significant challenge for England, but there's cautious optimism they could overcome Lionel Scaloni's squad if England channels the form they exhibited last year.
Brazil is the bookies' favorite to win this year's trophy, thanks to their star-studded lineup. Nevertheless, despite their record five World Cup titles, they've struggled to advance past the quarter-finals in their last four attempts.
Can England win the World Cup? Yes.
Is England destined to win the World Cup? It's improbable.
Though a triumphant run would be marvelous to witness, recent form is a crucial determinant in any major tournament, and England hasn't exhibited enough prowess lately to inspire much confidence.
Verdict : Bet not recommended at 9/1

World Cup Group A Odds
Betting On Group A
Ideally, every team hoped to be in Group A since the hosts Qatar were assured a spot here instead of other Pot 1 rivals like Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain, and Portugal.
The Netherlands appears to have the advantage in this grouping, drawn from Pot 2 alongside Senegal and Ecuador to compete with Qatar in Group A.
While host nations generally fare well in World Cups, it's hard to envision Qatar advancing from this group.
The battle for the first two spots is likely a contest between the Netherlands and Senegal, with my money on the former topping the group.

World Cup Group B Odds
Betting On Group B
England found themselves in Pot 1 and landed in Group B, joined by the USA, Iran, and Wales.
- Odds on England to Win Group B :
- Odds on England to Qualify from Group B :
England is favored to head the group and priced at 1/3 to do so. Historically, Southgate's team has performed admirably in major tournaments, finishing third in the 2018 World Cup and reaching the final at Euro 2020, though succumbing to Italy on penalties. The USA poses a potential threat, and Wales, undoubtedly, would relish upsetting the Three Lions.
Nevertheless, England should emerge as group leaders. However, with the final team in the group yet to be finalized, predicting the runner-up is challenging.
I would likely dismiss Iran's chances and consider either the USA or Wales for the second spot. Gareth Bale shows a marked improvement when donning his national jersey, and if fit and in form, he might give Wales the boost needed to progress to the knockout phase.

World Cup Group C Odds
Betting On Group C
Argentina will aim to better their round of 16 exit from the 2018 World Cup, where they narrowly lost to the hosts France, 4-3.
Drawn in Group C with Poland, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, Argentina is favored to claim the top position.
Saudi Arabia is expected to face challenges in this demanding group, leaving Poland and Mexico likely to contend for the second spot.
It’s tricky to predict, but there's a hint that Mexico might just manage to advance.
They also reached the Round of 16 during France '18, but got eliminated with a 2-0 loss to Brazil.

World Cup Group D Odds
Betting On Group D
Predicting this group isn't too challenging with France and Denmark as the probable teams moving forward.
France stands as one of the bookmakers' top picks to clinch the tournament, while Denmark showcased their prowess by reaching the Euro 2020 semi-finals last year.
Both Tunisia and Australia are not expected to challenge their Group D counterparts significantly.

World Cup Group E Odds
Betting On Group E
Dubbed as the 'Group of Death', Group E in the World Cup is assumed to be the toughest among all eight groups.
Nevertheless, the main showdown is between Spain and Germany, and for others to make it to the top two, they'd need a remarkable performance.
Choosing between the two is tough, but Spain's youthful squad, if they hit their stride this year, could compete fiercely for the title.
Japan might show resilience in this group, yet their deficiency in attack could see them fall short of the top two.
Joining them in Group E, Costa Rica is not anticipated to trouble the tournament’s top favorites.

World Cup Group F Odds
Betting On Group F
Group F showcases the top seeds and FIFA's number one ranked team, Belgium, alongside Croatia, Morocco, and Canada.
While Croatia may vie for the top position, Belgium, if they're at their best, are expected to progress as group leaders.
It's Canada's first World Cup appearance since 1986, largely due to the transformative work of the English manager, John Herdman.
With soaring motivation and energy, Canada might secure third place, but advancing further would demand an extraordinary upset.

World Cup Group G Odds
Betting On Group G
Joining Group G, five-time World Cup champions Brazil face Switzerland, Serbia, and Cameroon.
As predicted, Brazil leads as favorites to win the group, but the battle for second place is likely to be intense.
Switzerland, having defeated France in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020 and taking Spain to a penalty shootout, have proven they can compete with top-tier teams and could perform similarly well.
However, Serbia should not be underestimated as they too hold aspirations of making it through.
Judging by Switzerland’s Euro performance, wagering them for second place might be a sensible choice.

World Cup Group H Odds
Betting On Group H
One of the tournament's more intriguing groups, in my view, is Group H with Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, and Ghana.
Portugal holds the odds in their favor, but odds of 8/13 seem harshly low. Their journey included a playoff spot to secure a place in this year's World Cup, leaving doubts in their form.
Yet, Cristiano Ronaldo aims to lead his team through as this might be his farewell World Cup appearance, given his approaching 38th birthday when the competition ends. While he's a constant threat on the field, victories require a team effort, and every team in this group is equipped to challenge.
I’m stepping out of comfort here and predicting Portugal might not make it past the group stage.
Though South Korea hasn't advanced past the group in World Cups since 2010, they've qualified consistently since 1982. With Tottenham's standout player, Son Heung-min, they pose a credible threat.
Group H Predictions
- 1st: Uruguay
- 2nd: South Korea
- 3rd: Portugal
- 4th: Ghana
World Cup Group H Fixtures |

If you find groups with multiple strong contenders, betting on such a group might be advantageous.
Reflecting on the odds displayed, Group E receives the lowest odds because it includes two frontrunners: Spain and Germany.

To Win All Group Games Prediction
The odds imply England has a promising chance to conclude group play with a full score.
Under Southgate, their track record over recent years has been strong, rarely losing games.
Despite the other group teams presenting challenges, England enters each match as the favorite, expected to claim all three victories.
Similarly, betting on Brazil and the Netherlands seems viable.
Brazil should outmatch Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon, while the Netherlands faces perhaps the least daunting group, alongside hosts Qatar, Ecuador, and Senegal.
Prediction : England @ 7/4 & Netherlands @ 9/4
